Indirect fired water bath heaters are a type of oilfield heater designed to increase the temperature of process gases. They are installed at the well head, upstream of natural gas pressure reduction systems, at power generation locations, upstream of gas turbines to control dew point of fuel gas.

Indirect heaters are generally designed to API Spec 12K which “covers minimum requirements for the design, fabrication, and shop testing of oilfield indirect type fired heaters used in the production of oil, gas, and their associated fluids.” They are called indirect heaters because a medium (typically water glycol mixture) is used to transmit heat generated by the burner to the process gas. This results in uniform heating of the process gas.

Sungov manufactures these indirect fired line heaters (water bath heaters) for natural gas and other fuel gas applications backed by design from a premier European company. These are offered as a complete skid mounted packaged system typically consisting of a combustion chamber with burner element, a heater shell with fire tubes and process coils, an electric or pneumatic control system with safety interlocks. Vessels and heat exchangers Code stamped to ASME Sec VIII Div. 1, control systems certified to ATEX/Ex Proof available as options.
