Filter Separators, as the name suggests, is a filter product and a separator product combined in to one assembly. Filter Separators (sometimes also called Filter Coalescer Separator) are primarily used in natural gas and other hydrocarbon gas applications for removal of solid contaminants (pipe scale, rust, etc.) as well as liquids contaminants (oil, water, etc.) from the gas stream in a single system. Filter Separators are a key equipment that provide clean dry gas to compressors, glycol systems, amine systems, metering stations, pressure reducing stations in gas processing plants, gas distribution infrastructure, gas powered thermal power plants, gas powered industrial boiler facilities and alike.

Sungov’s key competitive advantage stems from in-house design and manufacturing of not only filter separator vessels but also the first stage filter cartridge/coalescing elements and the second stage vane pack internals. This is unlike most of the competition who simply buy the internals i.e. elements and vane pack from other manufacturers and fabricate only the vessels. This in-house design allows us to engineer the Filter Separator to meet customer’s specific design philosophy and requirements.

Sungov’s Filter Separators work by filtering solid contaminants and coalescing small size liquid droplets (to understand how coalescing concatenates small size liquid droplets into larger liquid droplets, see our Coalescers product page) in the first stage of the equipment and then separating the larger coalesced liquid droplets using vane packs in the second stage. The separated liquid droplets are collected in a boot or sump vessel prior to outlet flow. They are generally offered in a horizontal configuration unless there is a space constraint to install vertically. All Filter Separators are designed to ASME BPVC Code and can be offered with ASME Code stamping.

Sungov can offer Filter Separators as part of a skid mounted package including necessary piping, instrumentation, valves and automation to provide a hassle-free operation to the end users.
